I have a Rottweiler who is almost 10, I adopted her in January from the shelter when she was 9. When I adopted her she had moderate agression problems with food mostly towards our cats and other dog. She has mellowed out over the year, is it possible she can become even less aggressive, or at her age is this the best she’s going to get?

At her worse, she’ll growl if petted while sleeping, at another animal while chewing a bone, or if anything touches her legs/feet.

She does have arthritis, but it is being treated with glucosamine/chondroitine medication and is on a senior dog food. Thanks for any advice =)

is there any thing i can do for him in the way of pain management? i can’t put him on a heating pad because it’s 90 degrees where we live so i have him in the bedroom where it’s air conditioned. he is a german shepard so i’m sure he’s really hot in all that fur. is there anything i can do for him right now without a trip to the vet?

I am 27 years old and after a long divorce process I was going through I am staying with him temporarily. He has a chinese pug 13 yrs old, and since I wasn’t able to be around much when I was married, I finally see the suffering this dog is going through. This poor animal cannot not get up or down even 2 stairs, she urinates and poops in the house because she can’t control it anymore, she can’t jump up on the couch or bed anymore, and she’s not able to play anymore. All this dog does is bark constantly. She moans when she gets up from a spot and you know she’s got arthritis, especially in her hips. My dad gets very very mad at even mentioning having her put down. My dad was given arthritis medication for her, but he doesn’t give it to her anymore. He thinks she should die here at home and thats fine and dandy if she’s not suffering, but she is. Does anyone think its fair to let her go on? Or am I just being cruel? I love this dog too, but its not fair to let her go on like this.
