My beagle is now 15, and was diagnosed with arthritis about 5 years ago due to obesity. She has lost all the weight necessary quite a while ago and was doing “fine” for years. She is on a steroid (the one that causes liver damage long term) and also a pain med. She stopped taking the medication for a 1-2 week period in July, and although she started up again, she has noticeably gotten worse. Her back end is low to the ground and her arms bow like a bull dog. She does not cry, but is clearly uncomfortable.
What options are there for treatment? We give her treats like Happy Hips and used to give her Sea Cucumber treats. Any information or ideas are very welcome and appreciated. Please honest and kind answers only.
My dog is 17 years old, and he is currently on prevacox to help with his arthritis, but he wakes up screaming with night terrors in the middle of the night. I know he is not in pain, because he does not do this during the day, and when I pick him up he stops. But he is blind and deaf and falls off the bed. What can I give him to make him fall asleep? Dramamine? I am not worried about long-term damage to his body, because he is so old, anything to make him more comfortable. Thank you.
She went to the vet 2 days ago because she kept falling down
on her back legs and they prescribed anti-inflammatory medicine but she is throwing up her medicine and hasn’t eaten for 4 days. The whites off her eyes are red. She is drinking water but will not tolerate food. We are going to
the vet again in the morning but I feel she will not make it
from here and feel the most humane thing to do is have her
put to sleep, the kids think she will make a recovery.
She is 12 and is a blue heeler cattle dog.
is there any hope?
