Dogs can get arthritis at any age. But this does not mean she has arthritis. The vet will let you know exactly what is wrong.

I wouldn't rule out limes disease because you live in las vagas. fleas and ticks live on animals. and people from las vegas probably to venture out into the 'country' now and then to bring in more. its a simple and cheap test from the vet.

"Glucosamine" is often given to dogs with arthritis. You can get this through any of the larger pet stores, your vet, or holistic animal-healing sites on-line.

My dog (who is older) started doing that practically overnight. Rushed her to the vet and they diagnosed lyme disease. She got a shot and some meds and was up and walking the next day. She will be on meds for 30 days. I'm not saying that's what it is but ask the vet.

Your vet has several different treatment options that you can explore. Some of your options are pain pills, anti-inflammatory, physical therapy, vitamin supplements, etc.
Some things you can do yourself include exercising him. Nothing strenuous, just take him for a leisurely walk at least once a day. The more you can keep his joints moving, the less stiff he is going to be. Massaging his joints gently may also help. Get him a heated, therapeutic bed as well. Also, if he is the least bit overweight, this will affect his joints. Make sure that you keep his weight down.
You can also give him Aspirin, either baby or buffered. You will need to check with your vet to determine the proper dosage though. Do NOT give him any OTC pain medicine other than Aspirin as the rest of them can be deadly to animals.
