But i rescued a chihuahua when he was about 5 years old. He was our only dog and right around age 7 he wasn't able to walk or go upstairs anymore. He even had seizures often. We thought he was dying. So soon after we got another dog and then added a third dog to the mix. I think my dog was lonely and depressed from being alone all day. Since we have had both the other dogs my chihuahua has had NO health issues and is now a ripe old age of 17. Hope this helps, he might just need a friend. I went thru the exact same thing as u.
