A lot of vets prescribe Rimadyl, but Metacam has less side effects for a dog's arthritis or bone pain and can be used long term.
You get both from your vet, don't give your dog over the counter drugs, that's very dangerous.
Glucosamine (human grade) is also helpful in fighting a dog's arthritis - not dangerous and can be given every day. It does nothing for pain, but strengthens the joint if used long term.
