It might and certainly a soft bed. They have some designed for arthritic dogs.
My arthritic dog did extremely well on a daily dose of Rimadyl along with glucosamine supplements. They need to be monitored for kidney function with Rimadyl, but this combo literally extended her life for several years and made her much more comfortable.

yes. i also use an electric massager. ask your vet about METACAM. my vet put my 11 yr bernese x on it for the severe arthritis in his left shoulder. all my large dogs also get glucosomine tabs 2 x a day.
i went with METACAM instead of RIMADYL because it has less risk of liver damage.

It can help, but I would make sure you got one made for a dog, not for a human. The human ones can get way too hot and are dangerous for your dog.
Also, if you are able- swimming is GREAT for a dog with arthritis (I know, most places are too cold right now!)- also be sure you are giving your dog glucosamine as well.

Get a slightly elevated bed to make laying down easier. Also, talk with your vet about dietary supplements to help with the arthritis. There are foods that already have these in them. I use Hills j/d because I like the fish oil and glucosamine levels. My dog does wonderfully on it. Massage and acupuncture will also do great. Make sure you keep the weight down to almost too skinny to decrease the concussion on the joints.
DO NOT use aspirin. It causes platelet dysfunction and even small doses has been shown to cause gastric ulcers. There are alot of anti-inflamatories out there that are approved for dogs. Stay with these. I use Previcox in my dog.

I used to need to carry him out side to use the bathroom I’ve used Joint Guard Advanced and after 6 months he is like I puppy I really recommend it!!! Also switching him to a food with MSM in it would help lots(lots of senior foods have it)! If you are intrested in Joint Guard Advanced you can get it at DrsFosterSmith.com! It’s worth it’s price and it would help alot makeing everday a good day! Wish you and him the best and hope this helps!!!!

it should help him some. i have a 15 yr old aussie with arthritis. i bought a supplement called flexall that has made some difference in him. i also give him snacks with glucosomin / chondroitin and msn. it helps with some the effects of the arthritis, you can get the snacks at walmart and i ordered the allflex on line. just type in allflex and you’ll get a list of places that carry it. there was one that was less expensive and fast shipping but i can’t remember the name right off. sports- something. i can look it up later and get back to you with it if you like

Usually not because heat is not good for swelling and that is what arthritis is. Try a dog food with glucosamine and chondroitin in it, it will take a week or so but you will notice a difference. Also make sure they have a soft bed and no hard running or jumping.

Yes. They do make them for dogs – don’t use the human kind as they can be dangerous if chewed on. You could also use a hot water bottle if you’re around to reheat it occassionally
